I want to welcome your child to first grade! I’ve been at Pine Strawberry School for the past 9 years. I graduated from NAU in Elementary Education & Special Education. I have endorsements in Early Childhood, Reading Specialist, and four areas of Special Education. This is my 50th year of teaching and I love it.
Philosophy
My own philosophy is based on four elements. The first element is consistency. I believe that students need to know what to expect at all times. I begin the year by explaining my classroom rules and routine. I post my class schedule on the board every day to ensure that they know what to expect. The second element is support. I believe that students need to be motivated, recognized, understood, and most importantly, know they can trust their teacher. The third element is fun. I believe that students need to feel like they have a reason to come to school every day. The last and most important element is love. I believe it is important to have a relationship with each student and let them know that I care about them and want them all to reach their potential.
Communication
Parent-teacher communication is essential to the progress of your child. Therefore, I will be frequently communicating with you, as needed, and I hope you will feel free to do the same with me. I want your child to have the best year possible, so if you have any questions or concerns at any time, please don’t hesitate to call me. The school phone number is 928-476-3283 and I’ll send my number home with your student the first week of school. I never mind getting phone calls at home. I have more time to talk in the evenings than I do at school. If I don’t answer, please leave a message and I’ll call you back as soon as possible. Good communication will make for a great year!

Your involvement will mean a great deal to your child. I am thrilled to be teaching your child this year and I am looking forward to an exciting and progressive year.
