I am really looking forward to teaching and building a community of learners at Pine Strawberry Elementary this year. 

Best way to contact me: I check my email right after school each day. If you want to meet in person or schedule a teleconference, please let me know. Please contact the main office for out-sick notifications and changes in dismissal (appointments, parent pick up, etc).

Homework: Packets & newsletters will be sent home Monday and due on Thursday. Students are expected to practice spelling words and math facts as well as read a chapter book for 15-20 min a day (at their AR level)

Chronic Absenteeism: Missed work will be sent home with students upon the day of their return. Students will have 2 days to make up the assignments and submit for a grade. Incomplete assignments will be marked as a zero in the grade book. This expectation ensures that students are given every opportunity to succeed and practice the skills required per Arizona state standards. .

Classroom management & culture:

In collaboration with all staff at Pine Strawberry Elementary, our class will embrace the teachings of CKH to enhance school and classroom culture. 

  • Our class will build a social contract together that incorporates how students want to be treated, treat others, and handle negative behavior. Each day a different student will pick a focus word for the day and write it on the front board. 
  • Students participating in negative behavior will be asked four questions to assist in redirecting them.
  • I encourage students to try their best with the understanding that not all days are the same, but with communication and accommodations we can make every day a great day.

Assignments: Students will be expected to finish assignments on time and keep unfinished work in organized folders. Students refusing to work will be expected to complete assignments at home. Absent students will be given the opportunity to make up assignments if necessary

Events: Please check our school calendar and our classroom newsletter for important dates and deadlines.

Classroom Celebrations: If you would like to provide a class snack for a birthday, please contact me to ensure there are no food allergy limitations. Students will have opportunities to win “free time” with good behavior and effort.

Volunteering: There will be opportunities to chaperone field trips. If you are interested, we would love to have you join us.
